Workshop in Hamburg, Oct. 2015

The workshop, meetings of Activity Groups and the Steering Board were organised by the Landesbetrieb Straßen, Brücken und Gewässer Hamburg (LSBG, State Agency of Roads, Bridges and Water Hamburg) and ITA COSUF. The first day was reserved for internal meetings of the ITA COSUF Steering Board and the four Activity Groups. The second day was well-filled with technical presentations, site visits to the Elbe Tunnel with Control Room and Tunnel Tube and as well the Operating Centre Hochbahn (metro and public transport operator of Hamburg).

At Traffic Control Center in Elbe tunnel, we learned more about safety management and safety equipment.

Many of us visited also the old Elbe tunnel. A over 100 year old subsea(river) tunnel with elevators for cars, pedestrians and bicycles.

New security challenges for design and operation

The presentations in ITA-COSUF will be given by internationally leading experts and the workshop will be divided in two parts, Case studies and Hazard identifications. The case studies will include presentations about how different threats can be identified and what is the impact of human factors in case of disaster and terror. The hazard identification part will tackle topics like assessing the impact of hazardous gods in tunnels and what is the impact of explosions to the underground structure.

Earlier the same morning we will arrange Activity group meetings and on the evening 12. June we will invite the members to a boat trip and dinner in the beautiful surroundings of Bergen.

Please register for AG meeting and dinner to the secretary (link to contact page).
